How are you responding to God’s correction? Yes, God is our heavenly Father and every good Father corrects his children with proper discipline. According to Romans 7:18, there is nothing good in us apart from God. That means our heavenly Father has plenty of reasons to chastise or correct us. How we respond to that correction determines our relationship with God.
Hebrews chapter 12 gives us clear instruction on how to handle God’s chastisement. It clearly lets us know that we are going to be chastised. Psalm 94:10 asks the question, “He that chastises the heathen, shall not he correct?” I have often told my own children, “I’m spanking you because I’m not raising a bunch of heathens.” Our heavenly Father as well must spank us in many ways to ensure that His sons and daughters don’t turn out to be a bunch of heathens.
