What do you do when the cares of this world come between you and the love of your life?
Chadwick and Jalana met on the campus of Oral Roberts University in 1991. “I was drawn to him because of his passion for the Lord,” Jalana shared. After ministering as friends during their years at ORU, they married. Their first 7 years of marriage brought two beautiful children while serving together in ministry as associate pastors in the church.
The pressures of life began to build by their 12th year of marriage. Jalana lost her father to cancer, Chad was laid off from his job, and they lost their first home. While Jalana was pregnant with their third child, the couple struggled to maintain their connection with God and each other while still serving in ministry. Chad turned to other sources to remove the pain that led to pornography addiction and infidelity.
Feeling hurt and betrayed, Jalana cried out to God. How could she make the pain stop? Convicted by his actions, Chad knew God was disappointed in him and wondered if his wife could ever forgive him. Would divorce be the answer? Neither was ready to give up on their marriage.
God began to encourage Jalana to pray for herself and her husband, declaring His promises over her situation. She started praying for her husband to be the man God had called him to be. Chad repented and sought God to restore his relationship. Over time, they began to pray together and experience healing in their marriage. “We’re not a couple who had a messed up marriage. We’re a couple who went through a storm and made it through.” Watch their full story below!
